Launch of Code of Practice for Home Wiring

January 2011

ACRS has welcomed the release of the Code of Practice for Home Wiring along with the Installer Cabling Handbook for Residential Wiring and a Quick Guide to Smart Wiring.

The launch of the documents is a culmination of many months of work by key industry players, including The Copper Development Centre and NECA as well as telcos such as Telstra and manufacturers.

The Code of Practice sets out the building cabling platform standards to be complied with. It has been developed with input from industry and government so that it has national buy in and is an open, independent standard.

The introduction of Consumer Handbooks for both builders and electricians, and consumers  should make it even easier for all involved to know what needs to be done in a home so that it can handle fast broadband-especially over fibre-and all the features like entertainment, connectivity, security and networking that can come with it.
